Why Me? Your Face Matters!

Do you ever wonder about the person behind a brand? What makes a person do what they do and want to tackle industry giants in oh so many ways.

For me it all started back around Summer 1978.  I was just about to turn 13 and the highlight of my week was Saturday afternoon spent in Boots on Rotherham High Street. And I mean the whole afternoon.  Literally hours.  Pocket money to spend and what would it be….. an electric blue Maybelline mascara, the exquisite sophistication of a Bourjois blush pot, or the can’t live without 17Rollerball Lipgloss.  I had every flavour.  Strawberry mint was my favourite.  And more was more.  There was never enough.  I once had a fly land on my bottom lip and it literally drowned in a sea of gloss!

AND I discovered Vogue magazine.  The local newsagent had to order it in specially.  I guess there wasn’t much call for Vogue in Rotherham in the 70’s.  Hours were spent copying the latest make-up trends and reading all the skincare reviews and advice, which would send me into the kitchen to make face masks out of eggs and honey and yoghurt and splitting open my mum’s vitamin E capsules for the oil!

I guess it was inevitable that I would head to beauty school where I passed all papers with distinction and from there on to Thalgo in Canary Wharf London to train in their French marine therapies – still the best spa brand in the whole world in my opinion.  And then on to High Holborn London to train with Aveda; Ayurvedic practices and botanical formulations which resonated so deeply.

Some of you will know that I began formulating to address the rosacea issues I was suffering with and from that Face Matters was born.  Winning multiple awards and having been featured in many magazines and then from launching into Fenwick Bond Street where I was reported as being one of the top 10 facialists in London, to working with The Princes Trust and The London College of Beauty Therapy it’s certainly been an amazing journey.  I am still facialist to the Fenwick Family in London and to many celebrity actors and the facial studio in Hampshire continues to flourish with the most wonderfully loyal clients; both gents as well as ladies.

Why me?  And why am I telling you all this?  This is the foundation from which Face Matters has grown; passion, belief, training, more training, constant hands on work, research, recognition and the most incredible Soil Association approved manufacturers down in Dorset.  Because to me it really really matters;
